The Fonthill Lions Club was honoured to participate in the 2026 Seniors Active Living Fair, held October 1 at the Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill.
The event provided an opportunity for Lions members to meet local residents, talk about the importance of volunteering and giving back and share what it means to be a Lion.
“Being a Lion is about serving your community, but it is also about friendship, connection and using your own interests and skills to make a difference,” said Steve Dube, President of the Fonthill Lions Club. “Volunteering is incredibly rewarding. It keeps us connected to our community and to one another.”
Visitors to the Fonthill Lions exhibit learned about the Club’s fundraising activities, community service and support for local organizations and causes. The Club also invited attendees to enter a draw for a Wine & Chocolate Gift Basket featuring products generously donated by two local businesses, Sons & Daughters Wine Estate and Sweet Thoughts Chocolatier. Their contributions provided an opportunity to showcase local products while reinforcing the importance of supporting the local businesses that are part of the community the Lions serve.
The Seniors Active Living Fair also gave the Fonthill Lions an opportunity to connect with residents who may be looking for new ways to become involved in their community. The Club will be hosting informal information sessions over the next few weeks for anyone interested in learning more about the Fonthill Lions, the work they do and the many different ways members can participate.
“You don’t have to know anything about Lions or be ready to make a commitment,” added Dube. “We simply invite you to come out, meet some of our members and learn more about what we do. You may discover that becoming a Lion is a great way to meet people, have some fun and make a difference in your community.”
Anyone interested in attending an upcoming information session is invited to email info@fonthilllions.ca. There is no obligation to join. It is simply an opportunity to meet some of the members, ask questions and discover whether the Fonthill Lions might be a good fit.
