The Fonthill Lions Club proudly hosted its Annual Agriculture Night, bringing together community members, local leaders and supporters to recognize and celebrate the vital contributions of the farming industry. The evening honoured the people and families whose work sustains both the local economy and the broader community.
Held at the Fonthill Legion on April 21, the event reflected the Lions’ longstanding commitment to service and community connection. Agriculture Night has become a meaningful annual tradition, offering an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, resilience and innovation of farmers across Niagara and beyond.
“The farming community is at the heart of who we are,” said Robert Yungblut, Past President of the Fonthill Lions Club and organizer of the event. “Agriculture Night is our way of saying thank you. It is a chance to recognize the hard work, the long hours and the deep commitment that farmers bring to feeding our communities and sustaining our local economy.”
The evening combined fellowship with purpose, beginning with a social gathering followed by dinner and presentations.
This year’s program featured guest speaker Lion Marty Byl, Region 5N Zone Chair, who shared insights and experiences from humanitarian efforts in Guatemala. His presentation highlighted the impact of Lions-led initiatives in building homes and supporting communities in need, reinforcing the organization’s global mission of service.
Proceeds from the event will support Lions charities and ongoing community initiatives.
With strong local support and sponsorship, including Pelham Funeral Home Ltd., the event continues to grow as a celebration of agriculture, community spirit and service.
